Describe your idea (200 Words)

Drug abuse is commonly practiced by youth in Tanzania . Youths drug abuse rate has been increasing day to day and there are many reasons to that, among others, the following plays a bigger role in influencing drugs abuse among youth in Temeke and Tanzania at large, first, the influence of globalization, second, the growing gap between parents and children and lastly but not least, peer group pressure. According to the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs report of 2015, 93.3 % of men and 6.7% of women aged 12-49 were treated at Temeke Hospital, which makes the total of 105 people. Due to this situation there must be an inclusive initiative that can include both stakeholders which are youth, parents and government stake agencies. Personally, i am a young talented girl with designing skills hence I am determined to create a non drug use campaign using a Swahili fabric famously known as Kanga in which it will carry a message to all groups in the society on how and why it is important is to stay away from dangerous drugs. My intention of using the swahili fabric (Kanga), is simply because it is used by more than 98% of women Tanzania and also some men because it is used to make shirts and trousers. In do so, this is the perfect platform to rise voices on drugs abuse among youths in Tanzania. This will change lives and make a better future today because together we can.
